Nigerian army has been commended for their humanitarian services to the civilians in the country.
The people of Adani Autonomous Community made the commendation on Tuesday during the grand finale of the Nigerian Army, 82 division’s medical outreach held at Premier Primary School, Adani, In Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area.
Expressing his happiness over the free medical exercise of the 82 Division, the Traditional Ruler of Adani Autonomous Community, Igwe Patrick Ezeugwu poured encomium on the laudable gesture of the military.
Ezeugwu prayed for divine protection for the Nigerian army in their service to fatherland.
“The community is overwhelmed with joy for such good tiding of sound health the army is giving us today as well as health counseling that comes with it,’’ Ezeugwu said.
Some of the beneficiaries of the outreach who spoke in separate interview including; Anselem Ugwuanyi and Gabriel Okwor, eulogized the efforts of the army in ensuring peaceful co-existence and protection of the entire territory of the country from external aggression.
In his address, the garrison commander, sector 5, exercise Atilogwu Udo 1, Brigadier General Sylvester Oloyede, said the medical exercise was one of the series of social responsibility initiatives introduced by the chief of army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai to strengthen civil-military co-oporation in the country.
Brigadier-General Oloyede while highlighting some of the humanitarian services so far rendered by the 82 division, equally assured the people of more packages being put in place for the welfare of the Nigerian citizens.
“The exercise is meant to win the hearts and minds of the host communities and further provide them with some humanitarian and community assistance.
“It is also in line with the Chief of Army Staff vision for Nigerian Army to be responsive and cater for the welfare of the host community throughout the country,’’ he said.
High point of the event were screening for different health challenges, distributions of mosquito treated nets, drugs, among others to no fewer than 640 residents in Adani community.
