The daughter of a businesswoman in Kwara State, Misturah Abdulganiy, who was abducted from her home in the Alagbado area, Ilorin, Kwara State, has regained her freedom.
Misturah was kidnapped on Friday after the kidnappers shot dead her brother, Musa.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the kidnappers became angry and shot Musa after struggling to gain access to the house of the businesswoman for hours.
It was learnt that they later entered through the kitchen around 3am and asked for the businesswoman, who was not at home.
They then took her daughter, Misturah.
The hoodlums reportedly got in contact with the woman’s family and demanded N100m as ransom.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Misturah was released on Monday following the payment of N5m to her abductors.
The ransom was reportedly negotiated by the family from N100m to N5m.
The victim’s mother, a former teacher who later ventured into business, was said to have visited the community to thank neighbours for their financial and spiritual support.
A family member and resident of the area, who identified himself only as Mr Shehu, said, “Mistura was released following the payment of N5m by the family. She could have been killed or harmed. Though we mourned the death of his brother, Musa, we equally thank God for her safe release to us.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the development, but denied knowledge of the ransom payment.
