Tricycles Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Akwa Ibom State Council recently marked her second anniversary at an event which was held at the State Ministry of Transport and Petroleum Resources Annex along Ikot Ikpene Road, Uyo.
Speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner for Transport and Petroleum Resources, Hon, Orman Esin said commended the leadership qualities exhibited by leaders of the Association, which he described as transparent.
He maintained that members of TOAN were not touts, but graduates of different profession and urged members of the Association to support the administration Governor Udom Emmanuel in 2019 general elections.
The Commissioner sued for peace and unity among members of the Association, noting that the set goals of the Association can only be achieved when members are united.
He hinted that, it is possible to checkmate crime and criminality in the state through tricycle operators, urging them to always be on alert while driving, adding that 3,500 MOT tariff has been reduced.
In his goodwill message, the National Secretary of TOAN, Comrade Sunday Enang stated that TOAN is the first Transport Union which is well recognised by the Federal Ministry of Transport.
