Itungwa community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia, has honoured Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ebere Amaraizu, with an “Award of Excellence in Youths Development and Community Peace’’.
The community noted that his intervention had brought peace in many communities in South-East in general.
Presenting the award on Tuesday, the member representing Obingwa West State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Chief Thomas Nkoro, thanked Amaraizu for making the constituency and the entire society proud.
Nkoro, who is the State Assembly Committee Chairman on Education, urged him not to relent in his good works.
In his reaction, a popular Nollywood actor and comedian, Nkem Owoh, eulogised Amaraizu for his zeal to make the society a better place.
Owoh, who is popularly known as “Osuofiason”, described the recipient as a good friend and thanked Itungwa community for their giant development strides.
The traditional ruler of the community, Eze Appolos Orji, described Amaraizu as a true son of the community, who had impacted positively on the society through sports and public relations.
Orji, a retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, urged him not to relent in his good works of shaping the lives of youths.
The Royal father explained that the honour and award was also given to illustrious sons and daughters of the community and public-spirited Nigerians, who had distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavours.
Amaraizu, while appreciating the gesture, thanked God Almighty for His inspiration and wisdom as well as good health of mind and body He had granted him all these years.
The PPRO said that the recognition would enable him to continue to impact positively on humanity and mankind.
The ceremony was organised by the Itungwa People’s Assembly (IPA).
Amaraizu, who is currently the Director of Nationwide League One (NLO) for the South-East, facilitated the registration of Cannon FC of Obingwa in the NLO league two years ago.
He also instituted a football competition known as “Itungwa Community Football Fiesta’’ for two categories of under 15 and under 16 and had previously instituted similar competitions some communities in Enugu and Ebonyi states.
