Bandits in the early hours of Monday attacked a Fulani settlement around Barakallahu community in Igabi local government area of Kaduna State.
They killed a man and carted away unspecified number of cows.
The traditional leader of Barakallahu community, Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi, told journalists the incident happened around 12:15 am on Monday.
Abdullahi said: “Around midnight, we started hearing gunshots. They (gunmen) must have shot 50 times before they finally left the community.”
He explained the gunmen took away many cattle, saying that he was yet to confirm the number as he was on his way to see the family.
Kaduna Police spokesman, ASP Mohammed Jalige, promised to get in touch with the DPO in charge of the area and get back to our correspondent but was yet to do so at the time of this report.
