The empowerment exercise held at SEMA Warehouse premises in Asaba, the state capital, saw no fewer than 64 youths empowered to start up independent trade in Fashion Designing/Tailoring, just as 37 others were equipped with starter packs to start up enterprises in electrical engineering and installation

Presenting the empowerment packages to the jubilant beneficiaries, the state Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa enjoined them to build on the state government’s gesture in that direction and ensure that they continue to make him and the entire state proud by making sure that they succeed in their various enterprises.
Governor Okowa who was represented at the event by the Chief Job Creation Officer of the state, Prof. Eric Eboh said.

As 101 Youths Get Starter Packs that the only appreciation he expects to receive from any of the beneficiaries is their success stories which according to him, is the driving force behind the exercise.

The Governor, therefore, enjoined them to continue to uphold the virtues of hard work and honesty in the discharge of their respective businesses, just as he prayed that God will continue to endow them (beneficiaries) with the required wisdom and patience in managing their enterprises.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barrister ( Mrs. ) Mary Iyasere while thanking the state Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for the vision of empowering youths in the state with the various starter pack, advised the youths to continue to justify the huge resources the state government has so far invested in that direction.

The commissioner challenged the beneficiaries to remain committed to their chosen businesses, just as she emphasised the need for them to remain creative, innovative and diligent if they would continue to succeed in their chosen trades.

Some of the beneficiaries who could not hide their joy in an interview with The Pointer, prayed for the Governor, his cabinet and indeed the entire Deltans just as they promised to channel the equipment into proper use.
