The member representing Isoko South Constituency II in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Chief) Ferguson Onwo has said that workshop for members of parliament would improve legislation and delivery of budget goals to the citizens.
Onwo disclosed this in a chat with newsmen in Asaba on Friday shortly after the 2-day workshop organized for lawmakers in the 7th assembly.
The workshop which held from 10th – 11th October 2019 at Vienna Hotel, Asaba, with the theme “The MTEF As Mechanism for Effective Service Delivery for the Citizens” had Benjamin Ekeyi, Nasiru Mohammed and Dr. Shuaibu Danwanka as resource persons.

The lawmaker said as a first time legislator, a lot was learned in the workshop most especially in areas of budget formulation process, implementation and evaluation through inputs of legislators.
“I am happy I attended the workshop and I sincerely thank the leadership of the House for organizing such event and also to the resource persons, they did very well”
“This workshop re-emphasize the need for citizens’ engagement in budget preparation and I totally agree with this because in most cases when budget proposals are sent to the House of Assembly for scrutiny and passage you will discover that the urgent needs of the citizens are not captured and this has caused a lot of crises between legislators and those they represent”. He said
Onwo while assuring that he will continue to engage his constituents to know their strategic priorities, he maintained that workshop sensitises lawmakers on oversight and legislative functions for greater efficiency and effectiveness in law-making process.
