The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has assured personnel that the Army under his watch will prioritise the welfare of troops.
The Army chief promised to ensure that soldiers enjoyed a befitting accommodation.
He also promised that plans were ongoing to improve the service delivery of Army’s hospitals across the country.
Lagbaja added that this would enable the hospitals to handle “battle casualties”.
It partly read, “He reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army would continue to give troops’ training and welfare the priority it deserves, adding that currently emphasis was on the renovation of accommodation facilities that are in deplorable states, while efforts are also being made to provide additional ones.
“He said soldiers deserve the best accommodation the service can provide when they are not on the frontline as incentives for their sacrifices.
“He also maintained that under his stewardship, the Nigerian Army is improving its medical facilities to make them more suitable to handle all battle casualties arising from operational engagements.”
