The wife of the Enugu State governor, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi, has been honoured with an award by members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Enugu State.
The award ceremony which took place at Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, during the monthly prayer rally organised by Mrs Ugwuanyi was in recognition of how she has empowered several people through her pet project, Ugo Touch of Life Foundation.
Speaking while conferring the award, the spokesperson of the corps members, Miss Evelyn Nkpume said the first lady has often used her privileged position to enhance the welfare of vulnerable groups, especially women and children.
“Our mummy, you have demonstrated your milk of human kindness to us. The youth, mothers and children all have something good to say about you. That prompted us, the NYSC members, to honour you this day with the award which you truly deserve,” she stated.
Responding, Mrs Ugwuanyi highlighted the importance of prayers and enjoined participants at the event to always be prayerful.
“Anytime you wake up in the morning, ask God for direction, listen to him and act as He directs. I assure you that prayers work,” she said, imploring the people to always pray for Enugu State and the present administration.
She used the occasion to distribute some sewing machines to beneficiaries of her training project and advised the graduates to endeavour to train others.
