COVID-19 RELIEF FUND COMMITTEE coordinated by Rt. Hon Ike Ezeugwu, leader Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon Solomon Izuchukwu Onah, Executive Chairman Udenu Local Government Council, joined by some Stakeholders, Traditional Rulers, Councilors, Party leadership distributed rice, beans, Okpa, yams, vegetable oil, salt, seasonings cubes/ powders, cartons of canned tomatoes, Noodles to all the communities in Udenu Local Government.
Addressing the community representatives, the Chairman of the Council noted that the UDENU COVID 19 RELIEF FUND COMMITTEE is a non governmental intervention platform created by the good people of Udenu to raise fund and material to cushion the economic pressure our people in the rural communities face as a result of the lockdown occasioned by the Covid 19 pandemic, adding that it was a thing of encouragement to see the quality of response by our people at home and abroad to the call, while reassuring that our people would not be left to suffer.
In his own address, Rt. Hon Ike Ezeugwu took time to thank all those who gave out of their concern for the rural people at a challenging time as this.
He assured them that the material and fund so far generated would be maximally utilized for the purpose it was meant.
He called on the people to be strong and United in the face of the challenge while trusting the Government of Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in its broad effort to ensure a Covid 19 free state.
Responding the traditional ruler of Ogbodu Aba and Chairman Udenu Traditional Rulers Council Igwe Eje, thanked the chairman, Leader and the committee for diligence in coordinating the committee entrusted to them. He also prayed that God will continue to grant Udenu people abundant wealth and resources to nourish their pockets.
Thereafter, the relief items were shared in an atmosphere of calm among the communities.
It bears stating that having done with this first tranche of the exercise, the committee will from Monday continue with the second tranche of distribution.
