A suspected armed robber was on Monday set ablaze by an angry mob at Afiesere community in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Witnesses said the incident took place around 8.45am, adding that the robbery suspect was burnt alive.
It was gathered that the culprit had snatched a new motorcycle from its owner at Iwhrekpokpor Roundabout.
The owner reportedly raised the alarm which attracted other motorcycle operators who gave the robbery suspect a chase to Afiesere.
It was gathered that the fleeing suspect, on realising that he had lost the game, quickly jumped off the motorcycle and ran inside the premises of Afiesere Secondary School where the unrelenting pursuers caught up with him while attempting to scale the fence of the school.
The robbery suspect was said to have been given the beating of his life before he was set ablaze.
The state acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
He said, “The owner of the snatched motorcycle has refused to show up at the police station to assist our men in their investigations.”
