The Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Chiedu Ebie has charged Communities in the State to partner with the State Government in order to enjoy the dividends of democracy in their various communities.

Mr. Ebie gave this charge when he inspected renovation works being carried out by the State Government through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education at Chude Girls’ Model School Sapele, ongoing construction work at Igbonine Grammar School, Ozoro and renovation of Ojomba Primary School, Koko.
The Commissioner of Basic & Secondary Education in the company of the Commissioner of Ministry of Housing, Arch. Ogeh also inspected facilities at Army Day Children’s School, Effurun.
The Commissioner said the issue of youths disrupting ongoing government projects in their domain was disheartening, as no meaningful development could take place in these communities if the youths continue to disrupt government projects.
He said communities who have the benefit of hosting government projects should count themselves fortunate as not every community has the privilege of having projects sited in their communities at this time of the economic recession and as a result, they should do everything to embrace projects sited in their communities.
He appealed to the youths in the various communities in the state not to take the laws into their hands but to engage the state government in meaningful dialog concerning their demands as it relates to projects being sited in their communities.
At Chude Girls’ Model School Sapele, Mr. Ebie inspected ongoing renovation works of the burnt hostel block that were gutted by fire last year and other facilities being renovated at the school by the State Government, while urging the contractors handling the projects to stay the course so that the projects can be completed within reasonable time.
The Commissioner also inspected facilities at the Army Day Secondary School, Effurun where he said the State Government would look into the appeal made by Col. Alhassan Grema, Commander Sector 1, Operation Delta Safe because though the school is located within the Army Barracks, the school exists for the benefit of the populace at it is a public school offering free education across board.
Earlier the Commander Sector 1, Col. Alhassan Grema in his speech thanked the Delta State Government for the assistance to the Security Agencies in the State especially the Nigerian Army and reassured Deltans of their commitment to keeping the State safe.
