Don’t abandon your marriage for peanuts abroad – Cleric

An Anglican cleric, Ekenedilichukwu Nwafor, has called on women not to abandon their homes to get peanuts abroad in the search for greener pastures.

Nwafor, Vicar in charge of the Church of The Pentecost, Awka, Anglican Communion, made the call during a sermon, titled “Walking the Walk” on Sunday in Awka.

He said that most women in professional fields like medicine and nursing now abandon their marriages without agreements with their husbands to travel to Canada and other western nations in search of money.

Nwafor said that such acts can break up marriages and scatter the orderliness that should be in homes, thereby making the children vulnerable.

The vicar said that such acts have led to a life of adultery amongst the couple involved, the children indulging in acts of incest, and turning into lesbians and homosexuals amongst other ills.

Nwafor said that as Christians who confess with their mouth, they should walk the talk at all times and places and in all circumstances.

He said that God raised the marriage institution to build a Godly society where parents in agreement build a healthy home that would produce a sane society.
“The economic situation is harsh now but it is not enough reason for marriages to be abandoned for materialism.

“We should allow the holy spirit to run our lives in all things, knowing that he cares for his people and should be able to live as Christians.

“Women are the builders of homes so they should not create a vacuum in homes because of little shakes in their finances, family, and offices,” he said.

He admonished parents to be guided by God’s word so as to walk the talk as commanded by the word of God.

“Walk the talk by way of parenting. God commanded in 1st Peter 5 verses 1 to 5, that as a parent you are advised to live by example to your children in all ramifications,” he summed up.

Nwafor urged youths to respect their parents and carry out their directives as recorded in the book of Ephesians 6 verses 1 to 3.

“All these promises of God will rest upon us if we walk the talk in all circumstances of life,” he said.
