“We are here to change that narrative and provide you with reasons to believe in this government’s vision,” he said.He further encouraged stakeholders to view tax payments as a civic duty, adding, “Paying your taxes is not merely an obligation; it is a commitment to our state’s progress.”

Withholding Tax.Earlier, the President of ECCIMA, Sir Odeiga Jideonwo, hailed the state government tax initiative which he said is a crucial step toward sustainable economic development.

“This forum offers a vital opportunity for stakeholders to identify and address the barriers that hinder business growth in Enugu,” Jideonwo remarked.

He expressed concerns about the proliferation of levies and taxes across local government areas, noting that such practices have historically led to business closures, job losses, and diminished operational capacity within the state.

Jideonwo advocated for legislative reforms to establish a centralized tax framework, highlighting its importance in creating a more investment-friendly environment.

“Addressing these challenges is essential for maintaining existing businesses and attracting new investments.” He also lauded Governor Mbah for his visionary leadership and dedication to the state’s advancement.

The forum, themed “Building Synergy in Achieving Enugu State Development Through Tax Policies & Administration: Government and Business Community Roles,” was organized in partnership with the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (ECCIMA).
