The Enugu State Command Commissioner of Police, *CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has decorated recently promoted senior police officers of the Command to their new ranks. Among those promoted and decorated are the hitherto Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Department of Operations, Ochiabutor Ejike, promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP); and the Officer in-Charge of the Crack Squad (D16) Section of the State CID Enugu, Innocent Nkeamatara, promoted from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
Others included the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Trans-Ekulu Division, Michael Emeka Ugwu, Charles Cheta Dafe, Ifeanyi Ernest Aguene, Linus Amadi, Opara Thaddeus, Theresa Eneh, and Marcel Ogbuabor, all promoted from the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP). Also decorated is the Divisional Traffic Officer of Central Police Station (CPS) Enugu, Chioma Okonkwo, promoted from the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to the new rank of Superintendent of Police (SP).
The Commissioner of Police charged the officers to see their promotion as an act of God, which requires them to rededicate themselves to service and demonstrate the level of wisdom and proficiency commensurate with the new ranks. He admonished them to always justify the confidence reposed on them by the Inspector-General of Police, *IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM*, who graciously recommended them to the Police Service Commission (PSC) for promotion and the consequent approval by the Commission.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Administration, DCP Mercy Eberechi Okoro, her counterpart in-charge of General Investigations at the Force CID Annex Enugu, DCP Adewuyi Babalola, the Assistant Commissioner of Police Administration, ACP Hope Okere Isiani, and the Chairperson of the Command’s Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Mrs. Joy Uzuegbu, took turns to congratulate and admonish the newly promoted officers to live up to expectations.
In his vote of thanks, on behalf of the officers, DCP Ochiabutor Ejike, pledged that they will live up to expectations and justify their promotion to the new ranks. He thanked the IGP for finding them worthy of recommendation for the promotion and the PSC for the approval. He also thanked the Commissioner of Police for his guidance and support.
The event, which was held at the Conference Hall, State Command Headquarters, GRA, Enugu, was graced by the officers’ spouses, relatives, and friends, including the Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah, the Member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State in the House of Representatives.
