The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Danmallam Mohammed, has called for synergy with newspaper and magazine publishers on security enlightenment of the people.
Danmallam made the call on Monday in his office after receiving copies of The SpyNews newspapers from the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Ebere Amaraizu.
He said that publications carrying stories and events of police and other sister security agencies would help keep the people informed on current security issues, which affect their lives.
The commissioner, however, described The SpyNews newspaper as an instrument for bridging the communication gap between the police and the good people of the state.
“Kudos to the publisher of The SpyNews Publications for this wonderful piece that will enlighten our people on security consciousness better.
“The publication is coming at the right on time to assist in the proper education of people at the grassroots on safety and security of their lives and environment.
“This command will partner The SpyNews publishers to take security tips; police distress numbers and social media addresses; crime and security stories as well as events to our stakeholders as well as the rural populace,’’ he said.
Earlier, Amaraizu noted that The SpyNews newspaper was meant to reach out to the people at the grassroots and inform them about their safety and whom to call during emergencies.
He said that the publication would also equip members of the public with information that would further make them remain proactive in security matters and join in fighting crime and criminality in their areas.
The “The Spy” publications is been done in partnership with the Police Public Relations Department of Enugu State Police Command and Currentplus Press Enugu.
They also publish “The Spy’’ magazine every month.
