Enugu Fire Service trains officers on fire-fighting techniques

The Enugu State Fire has deployed newly recruited firemen to various formations as part of its effort to effectively combat possible fire outbreaks in the coming Harmattan season.

The new intakes were deployed to stations where they will stay for the next six weeks to put into practice what they had learnt.

Nine of the newly recruited firemen were deployed to Nsukka Zonal Command.

While addressing the fire officers, Zonal Commander of the station, Engr.  Obinna Omebi who confirmed their active participation during their training stressed that the  command will leave no stone unturned in making sure that they are well equipped before going back to the training school for their final passing out.

According to the zonal commander, the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration has been supportive adding that it was the first time government provided all the participants with uniformed kits.

Engr. Omebi who is also one of the facilitators at the training school revealed that the participants had been trained on squad drilling involving different kinds of parade, fire drilling, hydrant one to six drilling, pump drilling and ladder drilling.

Other trainings offered include discipline, responsibilities and duties of Fire man, methods of extinguishing, prevention, rescue operations causes of fire outbreak.
