Enugu govt holds symposium on Experiential Learning, Integration of SDGs into Basic Education

The Enugu State Government has organized professional development workshop on “Integration of Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs) into Basic Education: Empowering Sustainable Development” for Smart Teachers.

The workshop and symposium was co-facilitated by Amb. Chizoba Onyebara, an advocate for education for development, and the SDGs Integration Director of Enugu State Smart Green Schools.

The training was aimed at empowering the newly recruited 260 teachers to become Experiential Learning Innovators.
This epoch making event heralds the Official launch of experiential learning with the aim of fostering Education for Sustainable Development in Enugu State.
This training provided a platform for educators to explore new teaching methodologies, learn from distinguished experts such as, Senior Special Adviser to Governor on Education and Experiential learning; Dr Mara Huber.
The Provost of Enugu State College Of Education Technical (ESCET), Dr Chinyere Onyeisi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Education Innovation, Engr Onyinye SSA Governor on SDG, Dr. Ego Ajah, Member 3 Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board and Mrs Nnenna Okorie also provide insights on how the teachers could make their classroom more interactive.
The event was graced by notable education stakeholders who made remarkable contributions to the discussions at the symposium.
Representing the Executive Governor of Enugu State H.E, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah , the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia delivered Keynote speech on Enugu State Educational reform and policy.
Prof. Chinedu Nebo, a former minister of power and renowned educational leader, delivered an inspiring keynote on ” The Role of Innovation in Education and the Importance of Experiential Learning.
Senator Osita Ngwu, Senator Representing Enugu-West Senatorial zone of the state ( my Constituency) and the Minority Whip of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, admonished the teachers on the importance of policy support for experiential learning initiatives at the national level.

Prof. Obiora Ike also presented a resounding speech on Experiential Learning while Rev Father Dr Mgbodile, Chairman PPSMB, spoke passionately about the need for continuous teacher development.
The training ended with testimonials from excited participants as certificate were issued to all trainee by the Enugu State Ministry of Education.
