The Enugu state government has announced the introduction of the enugu state unified e-ticket scheme.
A statement by the Executive Chairman, Enugu State Board Of Internal Revenue Service, Angela Nnamani said it is in line with the mandate of the Dr. Peter Mbah’s administration in the state to promote a digital economy, eliminate multiple taxation and grow the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR),
According to Nnamani, the unified e-ticket is an electronic ticket for collection of taxes from the informal sector, such as road taxes, including tickets from tricycles, buses, tippers, emblems, and passengers’ manifest as well as revenues from markets and artisans.
She said the scheme is to make tax payment easy and convenient for all citizens while eliminating harassments and loss of government revenue adding that all payments and enforcement shall be done using online and agency banking tools.
Nnamani Said the introduction of the e-ticket scheme brings an end to all forms of paper tickets across the state and will commence on 11th august, 2023.
She called on residents to purchase their daily tickets through the Enugu state approved e-ticket agents across the state.
According to her, ticket will be vended to tax-payers vehicle plate number/shop number, and enforcers will also confirm purchase using online means only adding that anybody found selling paper tickets will be severely sanctioned.
