Enugu govt to relocate Agu-Owa Community as Gov. Mbah approves new Housing Estate

The Enugu State Government has issued notification of relocation of residents of Agu-Owa community in Trans-Ekuku, in Enugu East Local Government Area of the State.

In a relocation order dated July 5, 2024, signed by the Commissioner for Housing, Dr. Martin Chinweike , titled “NOTIFICATION FOR HOUSING UPGRADE AND THE URGENT NEED FOR RELOCATION OF RESIDENTS AT AGU-OWA COMMUNITY IN TRANS EKULU, ENUGU”, and obtained by Dome Television, the state government said it is constructing a new Housing Estate in the community as part of Governor Mbah’s campaign promises to give facelift to the city and uplift the living standard of the people.

The statement reads:

“The Ministry of Housing, Enugu State wishes to inform the residents of Agu-Owa Community in Trans Ekulu, Enugu that His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah has approved the immediate construction of a New Housing Estate for their resettlement. This is in fulfilment of the Governor’s campaign promises to give a face-lift to the city and uplift the living standard of the people”.

“In this regard, Landlords in the above-mentioned Community are;  hereby requested to urgently submit all the authentic title documents related to their properties to the Office of Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Housing Enugu within the next Four Weeks for Verification”.

“The relocation bid will take full effect by the end of September 2024 when it is hopeful that the New Housing Scheme would be ready. Machinery has been put in motion to ensure timely actualisation of the Housing project”.

 

“Please also be informed that the State Government would not hesitate to deal otherwise with any form of unnecessary clumsiness and delays to frustrate this laudable policy objectives”.

“ All concerned are therefore expected to act in compliance with this order”.
