Enugu state government has warned school principals and proprietors of private schools in Enugu state to desist from registering external over-aged candidates for examinations meant for regular students.
The state commissioner for education Professor Uche Eze gave the warning shortly after monitoring the conduct of the ongoing West African Secondary Schools Examination in some private schools in Enugu metropolis.
The commissioner who led the inspection team also visited Calvary International Secondary School, Konigin Des Friendens College, Judith Foundation International School, as well as Kings College and Queens’s Model Secondary School.
While reiterating the state government zero tolerance for examination malpractice Professor Eze charged private school owners to ensure that they provide a conducive environment for candidates.
On his part, the permanent secretary, ministry of education, Enugu, Augustine Udeh commended some school principals and proprietors who have joined the state’ss ministry of education in the fight against examination malpractice and warned that defaulters would be punished.
