The Enugu state government has expressed concern over the increasing spate of activities illegal revenue collectors in the state by persons posing as state and local government officials or agents.
The state government through a statement signed by the secretary to the state government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia warned that any state or local government official or their purported agents involved in illegal collection of levies, taxes, tolls, or rates will be apprehended and subject to the full wrath of the law.
The statement disclosed that the state government has constituted a task force to apprehend and prosecute all those found to be involved in these illegal revenue collections.
He cautioned such individuals to desist immediately or face severe consequences.
The statement reads:
“The attention of the Enugu State Government has been drawn to the spate of unauthorised collection of levies by those posing as State and Local Government officials or agents”.
“The Enugu State government hereby issues a stern warning that any State or Local Government official or their purported agents involved in illegal collection of levies, taxes, tolls, or rates will be apprehended and subject to the full wrath of the law”.
*In this regard, the State government has constituted a task force to apprehend and prosecute all those found to be involved in these illegal revenue collections”.
“Such individuals are cautioned to desist immediately or face severe consequences”.
