Over 200 persons have benefitted from the free medical outreach organised by Ononenyi Health Care Foundation, a pet project of the Member, Representing Nkanu East State Constituency at the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Paul Nnajiofor.
Indigent persons including the aged were screened for various diseases including malaria, arthritis, hypertension/HBP, diabetes, ulcer, warm infection, eye checks as well as general health and nutrition guide.
Speaking at the flag off ceremony, at the headquarters of Nkanu East local government area, Amagunze, the facilitator of the medical outreach, Chief Paul Nnajiofor, said the programme is part of his legislative social responsibility initiative to the indigent people of his constituency in line with the key point agenda of (PDP) to touch the lives of the people positively as well as in support of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s 4-point agenda especially in the area of social welfare and service delivery.
“Since my election into the house of assembly it has been my burning desire to launch this project and I intend it further to cover every area of our constituency after this flag off”, he said.
He appreciated the support, encouragement and inspiration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for motivating him to serve his people beyond legislation, representation, and oversight functions which are the three cardinal functions of a legislator and described Ugwuanyi as a father of all.
Nnajiofor, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Information, equally commended the wife of the governor, Mrs Monica Ugwuanyi for her untiring efforts aimed at making life better for the less privileged persons in the society.
“ Her motherly contributions, role and all round humanitarian services to the poor and less privileged using UGO TOUCH of LIFE FOUNDATION; her pet project, has saved many lives and giving hope to the hopeless and putting smiles on the faces of the people”.
In a remark, Wife of Enugu Governor, Monica Ugwuanyi commended the facilitator of the medical outreach and urged other philanthropists to emulate him.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke in separate interviews thanked the lawmaker for his magnanimity and pledged their continued support.
