Enugu Police begin enforcement on illegal use of siren

The Enugu state command has decried the flagrant and illegal use of siren, unregistered vehicles, covered number plates, fake government, private and spy number plates as well as the abuse of diplomatic number plates.

The command also expressed worry over the use of unauthorized policemen by some persons in the state.

The commissioner of police, Ahmad Abdur Rahman in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, said the command will commence the enforcement of the directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, to arrest and prosecute offenders.

To this end, the Commissioner of Police, has directed operatives of the command to arrest, impound vehicles and prosecute anyone found wanting, regardless of class or status.

He further warned and directed area commanders, DPOS, heads of tactical and operational departments and formations in the command to desist forthwith, the deployment of personnel to unauthorized persons, while unauthorized policemen found attached to VIPs and or individual must be arrested and sanctioned accordingly.

Abdur Rahman also enjoined citizens of the state to remain law-abiding.
