Enugu PPRO seeks collaboration with secondary schools on security

Enugu State Police Public Relations officer  Sp Ebere Amaraizu has stressed the need for enhanced and effective synergy between schools management and security Agencies in all secondary schools.

Amaraizu who stated this during a lecture at a workshop organised by the Enugu State Police Command for all principals and proprietors of public and private secondary schools in Enugu state under the safe school initiatives and in partnership with the state Ministry of Education and post-primary management board also called for functional Parents Teachers  Association.

According to Amaraizu, there is need for school principals and proprietors to be security conscious and to liaise with their relevant security agencies in order to put in place some crime preventive and safety measures adding that fencing schools will help to checkmate movement of persons in and out of the schools.

He charged them to think safety and security at all time to avoid being beaten to it by mischief makers.

Earlier, the State Commissioner of Police Danmallam Mohammed represented by Acp Oliver Amaechi who is the Assistant Commissioner of police in charge, Directorate of Finance and  Administration had  welcomed participants and use the occasion to inform them that the aim of the workshop was to sensitize them as well as government Agencies on the need to develop and maintain effective and functional security network  that will guarantee safety and security of lives and properties and urged them  to take the workshop seriously and conscientiously since prevention is better and cheaper than cure.

There was also lectures by the immediate Police Public Relations Officer,  Anambra  state  and now retired Dsp Ali Okechukwu who dwelt extensively on the role of school prefects in school security consciousness and with call  for effective synergy between schools and security Agencies.

The representatives of the Hon Commissioner of Education , Ude Lazarus gave kudos to Nigeria Police Force for the bold step and described the workshop as apt.

The  Director Post Primary School Management Board Education services, Mr Obiora Owube did not hide his joy as he stated that the workshop has opened their eyes on the things needed to be done for effective school safety and security and commended the Enugu State Police command on their giant stride in this direction The workshop  which held at the conference hall of Boys High School Umueze in Nkanu West Local Government Area Enugu state attracted so many school principals and proprietors of public and private schools and all the chief supervising principals in the state .
