Enugu Speaker’s wife opens skills academy, offers free training for indigents

The Wife of the Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Lady Princess Akunna Ubosi on Sunday officially opened a Fashion and Skill Academy at Trans Ekulu, Enugu East Local Government Area for training on various entrepreneurial skills for youths.

The skill acquisition centre was commissioned by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who subsequently inspected facilities at the Academy which incorporates a bakery and clothing production Factory.

Governor Ugwuanyi was on arrival received by the Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uchenna Ubosi, husband of the center facilitator.

In an address of welcome at the  grand opening, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Rancsfard Fashion & Skill Academy, Lady Princess Akunna Ubosi said the skill acquisition centre was an idea borne out of her burning desire to create a platform where the youths will acquire life-long entrepreneurial skills.

She added that entrepreneurial skills will help reduce the high rate of unemployment in the society and ensure a productive future for young people.

According to her, the decision to set up this institution was made some years ago based on a burning desire to create a platform where individuals – especially our youths – can easily acquire lifelong entrepreneurial skills that will reduce the high rate of unemployment in the society and also ensure a productive future for our young ones.

She disclosed that Rancsfard Fashion and Skill Academy is a skill acquisition centre where participants will acquire skills in Fashion & Design, Makeup Artistry. Baking & Pastry Production. Photography and ICT at both beginners and advanced levels.

 

She said “the Academy incorporates a bakery and clothing production Factory through which our finished products are sold to the general public; and we are proud to note that our products are made in Enugu State with international standards.

 

“The world is currently in a knowledge based economy in which ‘knowledge’ is the only meaningful factor of production. Therefore, creating a learning society will not be possible without building a platform where this knowledge can be transferred from one person to another. Thus, the advantages of building capacity at Rancsfard cannot be over emphasized.

“Resources, and Instructors will ensure you learn to succeed. We ensure our students acquire vast knowledge on their chosen field and also connect them to a mentorship program for guidance in honing their skills. It is important to note that Rancsfard Academy is willing to train verified indigent students free of charge.

“I want to specially thank His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Enugu State for his enormous strides in building capacity amongst our youths through various skill acquisition programs anchored by the Enugu SME Centre. Sir, your zeal to empower our youths has been very inspiring. I wish to let you know that Rancsfard Academy is positioned and available to partner with the state Government in building capacity among our people.

“This feat would not have been achieved without the unflinching support and encouragement from my lovely husband Rt. Hon. Edward Uchenna Ubosi. Eze’m (my King), your wisdom and support from the birth of the idea to the finished product has been invaluable indeed. May the good Lord continue to bless you. Amen.

 

“I will also appreciate the efforts of my Mentors, Management, and Staff whose advise, hard work and loyalty has brought us thus far. We have built a great team and I’m grateful for all your efforts.

“ Distinguished guests, it is our desire that Enugu people take advantage of our offers at the Academy to train their young ones in various skills that will help eradicate povaerty from our homes.

Among dignitaries at the ceremony were Hon Uche UGWU, Deputy Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon Jeff Mbah, member representing Oji river Constituency, Rt. Hon. Paul Nnajiofor, members representing Nkanu East State Constituency, as well as Enugu East council chairman , Livinus Nze Anike and the Enugu State President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Professor Fred Eze among others.
