Katsina Commissioner for Budget, Faruk Jobe, on Saturday says that the Federal Government has approved N50bn loan for the state to enable it finance some major projects.
He stated this during the 2021 citizens budget sensitisation workshop held at the old Government House, Katsina.
The commissioner said that the loan,which was part of the 2021 budget, will be used to complete ongoing projects and embark on new ones.
He mentioned some of the projects that the loan would be utilised on to include construction of under- bypass at Kofar Kaoran and at Kofar Kwaya junction.
Jobe added, “The ongoing projects that the loan will be utilised on include Green Economic Zone, Ajiwa waterworks, road projects, and rehabilitation of general hospitals, among others.
“Part of the loan will be used to construct under-bypass project at Kofar Kaoran and Kofar Kwaya junction.
“We experienced a shortfall of money from the Federation Account and from the Internally Generated Revenue to finance the 2021 budget. The N50bn loan will assist us to complete some ongoing major projects and take-off of new ones before the end of this year.”
He appealed to residents of the state to promptly pay their tax, adding that this would also help the government to meet its obligations to them.
A member of the state House of Assembly, representing Charanchi Constituency, Isah Kuraye, told the gathering that the House will closely monitor the utilisation of the loan.
