The Federal Government has said the use of Atmosfair Save80 Clean Cookstoves, a climate friendly device, will help address challenges of climate change in Nigeria.
Director-General of National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) Dr Salisu Dahiru, stated this in Enugu on Wednesday during a Sensitisation programme for South East Women, on the clean cookstoves manufactured by a German company.
While acknowledging that deforestation is one huge problem through which the country contributes to climate change Dr. Dahiru stated that the use of the Atmosfair Save80 Clean Cookstoves, has the potential to reduce the use of firewood by 80%.
He described the project as a problem-solver, saying it is cost effective with no smoke and saves time.
Former Ambassador to Jordan and Chairman, Advisory Board of Atmosfair Climate and Sustainability Limited, producer of the clean cookstoves, Ambassador Faruk Yabo, said that the friendly climate device, if embraced, would serve as a big boost in combating climate change.
The sensitisation programme, which attracted women and representatives of non-governmental organisations, civil society organisations and other stakeholders, was held at the BON SUNSHINE HOTEL where the environmental-friendly cooking stove was demonstrated to the admiration of women.
