Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has admonished Christian pilgrims of Enugu State origin travelling to Israel to be good ambassadors of the state and the country during their stay in the Holy land.

Speaking to the state’s pilgrims who were part of the contingent for the Easter Pilgrimage, Governor Ugwuanyi represented by the secretary to the state government, Dr. Gabriel Ajah, advised them to resist the temptation to abscond as the state had not witnessed such ugly experience in the past.

He further enjoined them to imbibe all Christian virtues, noting this was particularly instructive given that they were expected to visit so many areas of interest such as Galilee River and Jordan River, among other Biblical locations.

“Remember our slogan which says that Enugu State is in the hands of God, and the fact that anything in the hands of God is safe and secure. Pray for the governor, the state and the country”, he stated.

Earlier in their separate remarks, the chairman and the secretary of Enugu State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Venerable Dr. John Nwafor and Pastor Ugochukwu Onah, both commended the governor for the opportunity to embark on the pilgrimage which, according to them, will help reshape their lives for the better.

They gave assurances that the board in collaboration with the government had taken all necessary steps to checkmate lapses often associated with pilgrimage such as absconding, drug trafficking and other unwholesome practices.

Venerable Louis Adiegwu, who spoke on behalf of the contingent, promised that pilgrims would remain law-abiding and adhere to all guidelines outlined by the relevant authorities.
