Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state has said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is big enough to accommodate everyone.
Ugwuanyi who stated this while addressing enthusiastic PDP members during the monthly meeting of the party at Udenu Local Government Area called on members of the party to unite and work towards the progress of the party.
At the meeting which witnessed the decamping of a large number of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members in the Council led by Hon. Paul C. Okafor to the PDP, Gov. Ugwuanyi appealed that doors should be opened for all those who intend to join the party to do so.
The governor congratulated the new defectors and charged the PDP ward chairmen to mobilise people from their various wards to join the party.
While urging the people to continue to remember him and his administration in prayers, Gov. Ugwuanyi noted that it is only when the PDP is united, that the dreams and aspirations of its founding fathers would be fully actualized.
Earlier in his remark, the Udenu Local Government Chairman of the PDP, Emma Chima expressed delight at the active participation of the party members especially the governor who he said has been attending the meetings of the party.
Chima said that the meeting was to celebrate the goodness of God and appreciate the good works of the governor in the state as well as receive those who newly decamped to the PDP fold.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Okafor said that they were happy to join PDP family in the state and requested that his followers be fully integrated into the affairs of the party.
The PDP in Enugu State has been effectively holding its monthly Ward, Local Government and Zonal meetings since the inception of the present administration in the state, with the participation of the party stakeholders including all elected and public office holders both at the state and national levels.
