The Enugu State government has said it is deploying non-kinetic measures in addressing insecurity in the state.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Peter Mbah on Mainstream Media, Mr Dan Nwomeh disclosed this weekend when he featured as guest on the state-owned Sunrise FM, monitored by Dome Television.
While noting that unemployment and poverty are root causes of Insecurity, Governor Mbah’s media Aide said the youths are being positively engaged to channel their energies to meaningful ventures.
According to Nwomeh, the governor’s first step to addressing the issue of security in the state on assumption of office was to issue an executive order banning sit-at-home which he said has over the years crippled businesses.
He disclosed that as part of measures to ensure the safety and security of lives and property, the Mbah administration is deploying Close Circuit Television Cameras across the state adding that a command and control center fitted with modern security gadgets is nearing completion.
He said the command and control center when fully operational will ensure 24 hours surveillance of the state.
Dan Nwomeh disclosed that Dr. Mbah has already launched a Distress Response Squad in the metropolis and has been extended to some flashpoint local government areas.
According to Nwomeh, the Mbah administration is running an open, transparent and accountable administration.
The SSA on Mainstream Media who spoke on the recently held town hall meeting by Governor Mbah with stakeholders in the state governor said the government will continue to have regular, periodic interface with the people.
Speaking on education and health sectors , Nwomeh said 260 smart schools and 260 type 2 health centers to be equipped with modern facilities are being constructed by the Mbah administration across the 260 political wards in the state.
Nwomeh said the governor’s primary vision of growing Enugu’s GDP from il$4.4 billion to $30 billion, improve agricultural sector, provide potable water to the people and construct over 10,000 kilometres of road is still on course.
