Greater Awgu Traditional Rulers Council gives royal nod to House of Rep aspirant

The Greater Awgu Traditional Rulers Council, comprising monarchs from Aninri, Awgu and Oji River have thrown their weight behind the aspiration of Ben Alukwu, a House of Representative aspirant for Aninri, Awgu and Oji River Federal Constituency in the 2023 election.

The traditional ruler which include; Chairman, Aninri Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Daniel Njoku, Chairman, Awgu Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Cyprian Nevobasi and Igwe Mike Mberedeogu, Chairman, Oji River Traditional Rulers Council attended the meeting and other executive members of the Greater Awgu Traditional Rulers Council, made their feelings known on Friday when the Federal House of Representatives hopeful, Ben Alukwu paid a consultative visit to the monarchs to seek their royal blessings.
The monarchs gave royal nod to the aspiration of Ben Alukwu and prayed for him to scale through the primaries of his political party and subsequently win the election.
Conveying the feelings of the monarch, the traditional ruler of Mmaku Kingdom and Chairman, Awgu Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Cyprian Nevobasi maintained stated that Ben Alukwu has the capacity to meet with the demands of his legislative responsibilities.
The Igwes noted that while they wish to remain apolitical, it will be out of place as custodians of culture and tradition to shy away from the truth when they see it, stressing that Ben Alukwu is fit and eminently qualified for the job.
Earlier, the frontline People’s Democratic Party aspirant, Ben Alukwu intimated the traditional rulers of his political ambition to represent the good people of Aninri, Awgu and Oji River Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.
Ben Alukwu disclosed that his aspiration is born out his desire to serve his people, assuring he will provide representative beyond the mace adding he had remembered faithful to the PDP since its formation in 1998 till date.
While thanking Governor Ifeanyi for providing enabling environment for everyone to pursue their aspiration, Alukwu acknowledged that the current House of Representatives member, Toby Okechukwu has done his best for the constituency but should allow someone from Aninri that has not vied for the position to contest, for equity and fairness as well as the spirit of rotational representation.
