Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Senator representing Sokoto South at the 10th National Assembly, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to listen to the cries of Nigerians, amidst the present socio-economic hardship being faced by Nigerians.
Speaking in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, shortly after visiting Nigeria’s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on the occasion of his 87th birthday, the former Sokoto state governor, urged Nigerians not to get despondent and not loose hope, as things would soon change for good.
In a statement by Obasanjo’s Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi on Thursday, the National Assembly member also spoke on the former President during the visit.
Tambuwal who was reacting to the state of the nation, said all Nigerians; both the leaders and the led, must continue to pray and do the right things at all times.
According to him, “my clarion call is to Mr. President as the situation is getting bad by the day. Mr. President should listen to the cries of Nigerians, the country is going through hard times, things have never been this bad.
“But, he sought for this job and he got it, so, he needs to rally and make sure that things are put in better shape for the progress of Nigeria,” the Red Chamber member said.
Speaking on his contributions so far on the floor of the National Assembly, particularly, as it affects his constituency, the Sokoto South Senator, said that he would continue to give robust representation to his people.
He said some strategic road projects linking Zamfara and Kebbi states from his constituency have been included in year 2024 budget.
He also said bills that will ensure Nigerians become beneficiaries of affordable housing are in the pipeline.
“I came all the way to Abeokuta to come as I always do every year on his birthday. I pray with Baba for more good health, many more years of service to Nigeria and to humanity.
“He has been an enigma, he has been a great leader and a source of inspiration and indeed Baba has been a great leader not only in Nigeria, West Africa and Africa but, globally too. He is an international statesman, and we pray God keep him in good health.
