Ayogu Eze Campaign Organisation has faulted claims by Zikist-Buhari Movement, an Igbo organization purportedly drumming support for President Mohammadu Buhari that the All Progressive Congress governorship Candidate in Enugu was opposed to others supporting President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 election.

A statement signed by Okey Ezirigwe, Spokesman for Ayogu Eze Campaign Organisation said a publication in one of the national dailies entitled “Supporters fault Ayogu Eze’s comment on Southeast governors’ visit to Buhari”, ostensibly sponsored by Zikist-Buhari Movement misrepresented the stand of the APC governorship candidate which is only against the promise by south-east governors to deliver only a paltry 25 % percent of the votes in the region to President Buhari which is far below the 90 % votes assured to be delivered to the President by Senator Ayogu Eze.

The state reads:

“The attention of the Ayogu Eze Campaign Organisation has been drawn to a publication in The Nation of 26 November 2018, which created the impression that Sen. Ayogu Eze, APC governorship candidate in Enugu State, was opposed to others supporting President Muhammadu Buhari’s in 2019”.

“Nothing can be further from the truth. Zikist-Buhari Movement, in its statement to The Nation, twisted a statement Sen. Ayogu Eze made during the Vice President’s commissioning of the Buhari Campaign Office in Enugu to the effect that Sen. Eze was against more support for President Buhari”.

“Sen. Eze in assuring the President of 90% votes in Enugu and the South East, referred to governors who on their visits to the President, bargained for the retention of their seats to give the President 25% of votes in their States”.

“The Ayogu Eze Campaign Organisation was assuring the President that it would get 90% of votes in Enugu State, way beyond the 25% promise of the governor”.

“It was clear that the reference was to the visit of governors, not to other groups supporting the President”.

“Nowhere in his speech did he refer to groups and organisations like ZBM that are mustering support for the President”.

“There is no way we would have opposed more support for the President when it is on record that we are the first to commission a campaign office for him”.

“Our point is clear – APC has great chances of winning governorship and other elective positions in the South East”.

“Nobody purporting to support the President should halt the progress of APC in the South East, when the party has capacities to win more votes than the 25% the governors are promising”.
