Int’l NGO donates medical equipment to Enugu Govt.

An International Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Soroptimist International of Enugu Coal City Club today presented medical equipment worth over N50 million to the Enugu State Government in support of the untiring efforts of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration in the health sector.

The Club, whose membership comprises professional ladies in service to humanity, has affiliations all over the world, with the mission of assisting the less privileged to access quality medical care delivery.

Presenting the items to the governor at the Government House, Enugu, the club’s president, Mrs. Rose Ezenwa, disclosed the organization access donation of medical equipment from various organizations.

Mrs. Ezenwa recalled that the club, in July 2016, collaborated with the Original Exclusive Ladies of Enugu State in USA, the Comforter of the Afflicted Foundation and the Enugu State Government through the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Diaspora, Barr. Mrs. Olangwa Ezekwu, to execute free medical programmes in 7 Local Government Areas of the State.

While pledging the club’s unflinching support to Gov. Ugwuanyi for “his giant strides in delivering the dividends of democracy to the citizens of Enugu State, particularly in the health sector”, the president noted that the organization will be glad to see the equipment put to use for the treatment of patients in the state.

Assuring the governor of their commitment to continue to attract donor agencies from different international organizations to Enugu State, the club’s president, appreciated the SPA on Diaspora, Barr. Mrs. Ezekwu for her tireless efforts towards the success of the project.

Responding, Gov. Ugwuanyi thanked the organization for its humanitarian gesture and support for his administration, especially in healthcare delivery, praying God to reward members of the club, abundantly.

The medical equipment donated include:

Siemens Ultrasound machine; Stress Cardiac machine; Thread Mill; Mobil X-ray machine (by Philips); Adult Ventilator (2nos.); Infant Ventilator (by Sachrist); Patient Monitor (2nos.); ENT Head lamp; Patient Examination couches (2nos.);X-ray viewing board; Automatic Film processor (by Fuji, 2 nos); Syringe pump; Tonsillectomy set; Micro Haematocrit/ Centrifuge, among others.

Also at the event were the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo and state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Fintan Ekochin, among others.
