Mba hails Okonjo-Iweala’s emergence as first female, African WTO DG

The BOT Chairman of the Ndi-Igbo United Forum Hon. Chief Chinedu Mba has described the emergence of Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala the first female Director-General of the World Trade Organisation as a good thing to have happened to Nigeria.

A release signed by his Media Assistant, Emmanuel Obinna, said the BOT Chairman on behalf of all the Ndi-Igbo in Nigeria and Diaspora felicitated with former Minister of Finance and Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her election as Director-General of the World Trade Organisation.

Mba noted that as a renowned economist, her track records of integrity, diligence and passion for development has continued to yield positive testimonies adding that her rewards for merit and excellence have brought more honour and joy to the Igbo nation and Nigeria at large.

Mba in the statement said her emergence will never be forgotten that on this day a daughter of Ndi-Igbo emerged as the first woman and the first African to lead the World Trade Organization, WTO stressing that her competence, her wide experience as a renowned international development expert and the collective support from Ndi-Igbo will help her to excel in her new position.

Despite the havoc that the Covid-19 pandemic has inflicted on economies across the world, Mba urged the Director-General to deploy her famous intellect, integrity and energy in leading the WTO to promote prosperity through fair trade.

Mba call Ndi-Igbo both in the country and in the diaspora to give her the maximum support she needs to succeed, pointing out that her victory has shown that we can always triumph at the global level by putting our best foot forward.
