Enugu governor Dr Peter Mbah has described education as the bedrock of his administration, and expressed commitment to eradicating poverty through job creation for the countless graduates that are produced annually by the tertiary institutions in the state.
Governor Mbah stated this on Saturday during the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th combined convocation ceremony of the Coal City University Enugu.
He assured that the state government will continue to partner the university to ensure that it remains in the map of global education.
While commending the management of the university for their efforts in delivering quality education to the youths in order to secure a better tomorrow, the governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia implored those that received the honorary degree to continue to support the school and be good ambassadors.
He noted that his administration’s plans to grow the state economy from the current 4.4 billion dollars to 30 billion dollars cannot be achieved without quality education.
The governor assured the graduating students that the state government is putting measures in place to ensure that they are meaningfully engaged in order to become useful to their families, the state and nation at large.
He said his administration has commenced the construction of 260 smart schools in all the 260 wards in the state, which according to him, begins the journey for a dignified society, especially in the area of the emerging technological innovations.
