The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has lauded the media for their invaluable contribution to the successes recorded by the commission in the fight against financial crimes in the country.
The Zonal Director, Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Commission, Mohammed Shuaib Bello gave the commendation when he received members of the Corporate Online Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Enugu State Council who paid him in courtesy visit.
Bello, who is a Deputy Commander,
noted that the role of online media have become increasingly important, especially in this age where fake news has a become the order of the say.
The Director, who assumed duty on April 19, 2024 as the 13th Zonal Director of the Enugu Zonal Directorate assured of sustained partnership with the Corporate Online Chapel appealing for the media’s continued support in dissemination of achievements of the EFCC in the zone.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Corporate Online Chapel, Mr. Clinton Umeh noted that a stronger relationship between the media and the Commission will foster greater transparency, public awareness and accountability in the discharge of the Commission’s mandate.
Mr Umeh disclosed that the visit was to familiarize the Corporate Online Chapel with the activities of the commission in Enugu Zonal Directorate, and explore a partnership opportunity in providing objective reportage of the Commission’s programmes and activities.
He told the Director that the Corporate Online Chapel was born out of the genuine desire by NUJ to regulate the conduct of online journalists in line with established codes of practice.
