The wife of Enugu State governor, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi, has enjoined members of the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) to be agents of moral rebirth and imbibe attitude that would inspire the younger generation.

Mrs. Ugwuanyi noted this during her visit to St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, Uwani, Enugu, on the occasion of their 2017 pre-August Conference, admonishing Christians to always lead by example.

“Women should always pray and trust God; prayer is the master key for success in every venture. Pray to avoid evil in your life. Your prayer is not for you to simply hold on to your husband, but to bring peace and harmony to your families and Enugu State in general,” said the Enugu State first lady.
Earlier in a sermon, Reverend Father James Ozoamalu lamented the declining moral standards among the youth owing to what he termed an undue attraction to materialism.
“There are many criminal activities going on in Nigeria today due to unemployment and lack of sufficient moral upbringing. Learn to be bold and condemn evil. Do not be afraid of that which will kill your flesh, because it will not kill your soul”, Reverend Father Ozoamalu explained.
The chairperson of CWO, Mrs Akano Justina, thanked Mrs Ugwuanyi for honouring the group’s invitation and commended her commitment to empowering women and the vulnerable in the state through her pet project, Ugo Touch of Life Foundation (U-TOLF).
“We are highly delighted to have you here. Ever since the inception of the pre-August conference in our parish, we have never had such an opportunity of having the mother of our state in our midst,” she said, adding that the fact her charitable inclination has been emulated by wives of the state’s local government chairmen is a testament to U-TOLF’s success.
Also speaking, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Udenu Local Government Area, Sir Emma Chima, commended Mrs Ugwuanyi for the remarkable steps she has taken to ensure that women and youths were self-reliant.
