The National Agency For Food And Drugs Administration And Control, NAFDAC, has paraded a forty–five year old man in Enugu for illegal manufacturing and sale of fake alcoholic beverages in the state.
Parading the suspect, alongside his materials at the south east office the agency, NAFDAC’S director in the zone, Martins Iluyomade, said the arrest was the aftermath of investigation following the sealing of shops in ogbete main market, identified for selling fake alcoholic beverages .
According to Iluyomade, the suspect Ifeanyi Uche was nabbed at his house which also serves as his factory at Gariki, Enugu and has released vital information to the agency.
While reiterating the agency’s commitment to ridding the state of fake and adulterated regulated products iluyomade advised members of the public to stop patronising such products for safety of their health.
The suspect, a graduate of economics while admitting to the crime explained how he source his materials ,the process involved in manufacturing the products said he now regrets his actions claiming he was driven into the illegal business because of economic hardship occasioned by joblessness.
