NFF’s Chidi Ofo-Okenwa: Cleric urges Nigerians to return to God

A cleric, Very Rev. Osondu Ekweremadu of Trinity Methodist Church,
Enugu, has called on Nigerians to return to God for His love to heal
the country from its numerous challenges.

Ekweremadu said this in a homily he delivered on Wednesday in Enugu at
the Service of Songs for late Hon. Chidi Ofo-Okenwa, Chairman of Enugu
State Football Association and member of Nigeria Football Federation
(NFF) at his Enugu residence.

Ofo-Okenwa was also the husband of Mrs Chika Okenwa, Zonal Marketing
Officer of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The cleric, who alluded from the Holy Scripture in the book of Luke
15, said that like the prodigal son, Nigerians should come home to
God’s fatherly waiting hands.

“No matter how Nigerians are far from God; He is ever willing and
ready to accept us back as exemplified in the story of the prodigal
son.

“No sin or abomination is grievous for God not to accept us back and
heal the nation from its numerous challenges caused by disobedient and
taking to our own ways.

“We must get ready to reject sin and all forms of lust and draw near
to our Heavenly Father, the author of life,’’ he said.

Ekwremadu, however, said that repentance was also needed by
individuals as death, which no one sees no good at its timing, could
knock in one’s door at any time.

“There is still grace and time for the living in order for him or her
to amend his or her ways and return to God as well.

“God in His infinite grace is ready to pick us up no matter the depth
of darkness and sin that had engulfed our lives,’’ he noted.

Later, Mr Nkem Okenwa, brother to the deceased, thanked the Church and
all those that attended the service for standing with the family at
its trying time.

“I am overwhelmed with the support, solidarity and prayers from you
people, who came from far and near to be with us,’’ he said.

It is gathered that the deceased would be finally buried on Friday,
July 24, at Obinagu Uno in Akpugo community in Nkanu West Local
Government Area of Enugu State after a church service.
