Stakeholders at a one-day zonal town hall meeting in Enugu on the 2023 General Elections have agreed to work towards proffering solution to the myriads of political and socio-economic challenges bedeviling the South East region of the country.

The Town Hall Meeting organised by a Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, Peering Advocacy and Advancement Center for Africa, PAACA in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency, NOA was to appraise the impact of the electoral act 2022 in the elections as well as other wide range of election issues.

The Executive Director, PAACA, Ezenwa Nwagwu, said INEC was not to blame entirely for the lapses in 2023 general election as the electoral body acted within the ambit of the electoral law.
He pointed out that in Igbo land people were practically dragged to obtain PVCs and to vote but in other parts of the country people came out en masse to fully participate in the electoral process.
While stressing the need to comment on the outcome of the 2023 general election with the right information, Nwagwu called on Ndigbo to come together to chart a common front.
The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Garba Abari represented by the Enugu State Director of the agency , Mrs Ifeyinwa Ugwu, said the NOA will continue to uphold its mandate to promote and provide platforms for democratic debate.
He said since the preparation and conduct of the 2023 General Election, the agency has held several engagements with stakeholders to discuss various aspects of the process, including voter mobilisation, education, peace and conflict prevention.
Representatives of Religious and traditional rulers as well as civil society organisations at the meeting commended the National Orientation Agency and Peering Advocacy and Advancement Center for Africa to organising the event which they agreed has given them a better understanding of the electoral process and called for its sustainability.
The Post Election Stakeholders Town Hall in Enugu is the second in the series after Kano.
