Nigerian Communication Commission has reiterated its commitments towards enlightening and protecting the interest of the telecommunication consumers on their basic rights to achieve quality service delivery.
The Executive Chairman Professor Umar Danbatta represented by the South-East Zonal Controller of the Commission, Emilia Nwokoro stated this at the flag-off of the consumer conversation forum held at Federal School Of Dental Technology and Therapy Trans Ekulu, Enugu.
According to the executive chairman, the commission has mapped out several strategies to deliver the overall intention of the commission for the year, geared towards improving the quality of services, protection and empowering the consumers.
The NCC boss who listed some key areas of the campaign to include creation of greater awareness on quality service delivery, DO NOT disturb number which consumers can use to stop unsolicited text messages, NCC’S toll free line which consumers can use to reach the commission in case where service providers fail to resolve their complaints among others.
some officials of the commission including Yisa Braimoh and Uchenna Echetabu while answering questions raised by consumers educated them on how to utilise cell phones as well as urged them to use the platform provided by the commission to resolve complaints against telecom providers.
In an address, the Rector, School of Dental Technology and Therapy represented by the Registrar, Patrick Aligbor who commended NCC for the platform noted that it was first of its kind in their school.
While appreciating NCC for the enabling environment for the consumers to air their views on telecom providers with a view of proffering solution to the problems disclosed that the school will continue to partner the commission.
Some consumers commended the commission for the opportunity to speak their minds as well as asked questions that bothered them and described the event as a welcome development.
The campaign was flagged off simultaneously in the six geo-political zones across the country.
