Member representing Ezeagu State Constituency at the Enugu State House of Assembly has condemned the unwarranted attack on former Deputy President of the Senate, Chief Ike Ekweremadu in Nuremberg, Germany by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

In a statement, the lawmaker described the action as reprehensible and must be condemned by all men of good conscience.

He wondered why a man in the mold of Ekweremadu who has been at the forefront of the fight for Igbo emancipation should be mobbed like a common criminal.

“Is this the best way to say thank you to a man that stood by your pressure group when many politicians from the south east treated you like tuberculosis patients and tried to guide your agitations to the path of civility?

“Against all odds, in the face of intimidation from some powerful quarters that wants the Igbos to be relegated to the background, Sen. Ekweremadu stood firm, defended the dignity of the Igbo man and gave us a voic”.

“I and the good people of Ezeagu, which I represent in Enugu State House of Assembly condemn in totality, the actions of this very few which doesn’t in any way reflect the character of an Igbo man”.

“Rev. Martin Luther King Jnr said; “When evil men must seek to perpetuate an unjust status quo; good men must try and bring to being, real order of justice” thus those who follow a violent and unlawful order that calls on them to assault, humiliate and insult our elders, cannot be too surprised when someone takes them at their words and respond in kind”.

“I wept while watching the inglorious clips of this sad and ugly incident”.

“I’m not ignorant of the ill feeling of the people of the Southeast over the insecurity, injustice and marginalisation of the Igbos in the Nigeria state. I am certain that this is not a civil way to address these issues”.

“Igbos have always been known for deep-rooted culture of respect and Sen. Ekweremadu has worked his talk to earn this respect”.

“I also plead with Sen. Ekweremadu to; please not allow this action of a very few change his perception and love for his people.

“I hold the view that, if the Jews can crucify Christ after watching him raise the dead, heal the sick, feed them in thousands then we should all know that this is the price of leadership”.
