Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has charged Christians to partner with leaders and government in impacting positively on the lives of the people in order to finish their Christian race well.

Speaking on Sunday during the thanksgiving service of the second session of the sixth synod of the Diocese of Ika in Agbor, Senator Okowa said that Christians are leaders in their different capacity and have the responsibility of improving the lives of others especially the less privileged in our society.

He noted that service to God was the main responsibility of a Christian and that every aspect of the life of a Christian must impact on the life of others to live out this mandate and finish the Christian race to the glory of God.

According to him “As Christians we are all leaders, so we need to work together with government to impact on the lives of those around us” he said, adding that “we must be very conscious of the way we live our lives, as we preach the word of God we should ensure that our lives reflect what we teach so that we can win souls for God.”

The Governor urged Christians to always pray for the nation especially for those in positions of authority for God to turn the current difficult situation around for better stressing that the leaders have the right vision to move the country forward.
“We have the right vision as leaders to achieve progress for this nation but there must be a passion burning within Nigerians to co-operate with the government in achieving this feat, please continue to support the government in whatever position you find yourselves so that as a people we can finish well.”

Senator Okowa asked the people of Ika Diocese to work hard to grow the diocese spiritually for the benefit of all and to the glory of God.

In a sermon titled “Finishing Strong” Ven. Godfrey Ekpenisi explained that Christians should try to serve God well in whatever position they find themselves in life so as to finish their Christian journey in life well.

He stated that we need to have the right vision, attitude, love others, invest in ourselves, others and in the business of God.
The high point of the service was prayers for the government and a thanksgiving offering by the governor and his entourage.
