Team Nigeria has gotten its first gold medal of the 2022 Commonwealth games through Weightlifter Olarinoye Adenike Adijat.
Olarinoye on Saturday evening recorded 92kg in the 55kg women’s snatch event in Weightlifting at the ongoing Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth games to hand Nigeria its first Gold medal of the games.
Olarinoye was one of Nigeria’s Gold medal hopefuls and has lived up to her pre-game rating with a gold medal finish.
She made a combined lift of 203 kg to beat to second place India’s Bindyarani Sorokhaibam 86kg. Fraer Morrow of England clinched the bronze medal.
