Orba-Udu People Task UNN Vice-Chancellor on Social Responsibility

The people of Orba-Udu in Udenu local government area under the aegis of Orba-Udu General Assembly have commended the vice-chancellor, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof Chukwuma Ozumba for transforming the university to an enviable height.

They made the commendation when they paid a solidarity visit to the Vice-Chancellor in his office on Tuesday.

Orba-Udu with five villages is host to the premier university, having donated about 150 hectares of land to the institution on its inception.

The President, Orba-Udu General Assembly, Chief Charles Mba who led a delegation to the office of the Vice-Chancellor, urged the community to support the vice-chancellor towards achieving his mandate.

He appealed to the school authority to extend its corporate social responsibility initiative to the community in the area of employment and admission for the teeming youths in the community.

Responding, the vice-chancellor who was represented by the deputy vice-chancellor academics, professor Smart Uchegbu described the visit as timely.

According to him, since assumption of office, the Chukwuma Ozumba-led administration has increased the rating of the university among Nigerian universities and Africa at large.

Professor Uchegbu who disclosed that the university has witnessed rapid infrastructural development in the last three years assured that the university will not neglect its host communities.

In a remark, a member of the assembly Frank Ugwu said the council will partner the university in the area of agriculture to positively exploit its vast land resources to improve food security.

The traditional ruler of Owerri – Eze Orba, Igwe Miletus Agbo, Igwe Gregory Ugwu of Agu-Orba and Igwe Evaritus Onah of OhumiOrba were part of the delegation.
