Men of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested a man simply identified as Alabo who allegedly sliced his female tenant and her husband with a machete at Ekwulobia Street in Mile 3, Diobu in Port Harcourt.

The incident occurred on May 15, 2022, when the landlord went after the lady, Comfort Nwagadi, said to have turned down his love advances, inflicting several machete cuts on her.

The landlord had also attacked and macheted the woman’s husband who tried to rescue his wife and inflicted cuts on him as well.

It was gathered that the landlord fled immediately after realising that his action was grievous, to evade arrest.

Alabo was however arrested on Sunday by the police who had been trailing him for months.

The woman, Mrs Nwagadi, confirmed the arrest of the suspect (her fleeing landlord) in a voice note sent to our correspondent on Monday.

She recalled that the suspect, Alabo, had ambushed her immediately after she entered the compound that fateful day.

She said her landlord attacked her with a machete the moment she entered the compound cutting her on her head and fingers.

“That day, he also attacked my husband who tried to intervene. Alabo cut him with the machete too and ran away that night. Since then, he had not been seen.

“But yesterday, the Azikiwe Road Police Division called that they had arrested him. Now that he has been arrested, all I want is justice,” she stated.

The case file was transferred from the Azikiwe Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department Unit of the command on the directive of the then Commissioner of Police.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she would find out from the Azikiwe Police Station and get back to our correspondent.

She had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report on Monday evening.
