THE Prelate and Moderator, Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, his eminence, Rev Nzie Nsi Eze has identified intolerance among different religious and socio- cultural groups in the country as major threat to continued peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.
Rev Nsi Eze disclosed this while addressing the presbytery at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Enugu.
He said the church can play a major role in bringing enduring peace in the country.
The prelate expressed worry over increasing insecurity in some parts of the country and called on government to take urgent and concrete steps to address the situation.
“Peace can come when we anchor our life in Christ, no matter what we do; he is the author and finisher of our faith”.
He maintained Nigeria is big enough to offer all Nigerians irrespective of religion, creed and tribe equal opportunity to thrive.
“Nigeria can accommodate all of us only if we can tolerate one another, we will be able to move on the right direction”.
“Tolerance is part of what will help us identify with one another, encourage one another and then we will be able to work as a team”.
Speaking in separate interviews, Arch Bishop Godswill Onyeweoma and the Dean, St Andrews Presbyterian Church Enugu, Ayek Bassey encouraged members of the church to remain faithful in spite numerous challenges facing the society.
