Property worth millions lost to early morning fire in Enugu as victims seek govt assistance

Residents of number 100, One Day Road, Enugu are currently counting their loses as early morning fire on Sunday, 2nd January 2022 gutted their apartments.
The fire was said to have started at 1: 30 am when occupants of the building were deep in their sleep.
One of the occupants of the building, Uzoma Anyanwu who spoke to newsmen on the incident, said 11 families have been rendered homeless as all their property and monies were lost to the inferno.
According to him, before the arrival of the men of the state fire service, occupants battled the fire with water but were subdued as the fire overwhelmed them.
While no life was lost, Mr Anyanwu who is a pharmaceutical technologist, lamented that he personally lost equipment and drugs for treating patients, including household equipment to the fire outbreak.
He called on the Enugu state government and other well-meaning individuals to come to their aid as many of the affected families have started relocating to their villages.
Another victim of the inferno, Mrs Chizoba Okorie expressed sadness over the incident and appealed to the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to assuage their plights.
